The shooting death of a ski champion divided this Rockies resort town.

Originally a silver mining center, Aspen is now famous for another natural resource. Its location in the heart of the Colorado Rockies have turned the town into one of the most exclusive skiing resorts in the world, a place where the rich and powerful can escape the hustle and bustle of their hectic lives. But in 1976, one of the town's most glamorous residents found herself behind a smoking gun.

CITY CONFIDENTIAL tells the complete, convoluted story of the shooting death of champion skier Vladimir Sabich. His girlfriend, the actress Claudine Longet, called the police on March 21, 1976, to report that she had accidentally killed him. The prosecution claimed her act was deliberate; the defense argued that Sabich had been showing Longet the gun when it accidentally discharged. MURDER ON THE SLOPES interviews those close to the case for an inside look at the trial and its shocking conclusion, and details Longet's scandalous behavior afterwards.
