Search the sea off Key West for the remains of an 18th century slave trader.

By 1700, the slave trade was a vital component of the American Colonies' economy. Ships plied the Atlantic with "black gold," making fortunes for their owners, but it was a dangerous undertaking, and many were lost.

One such vessel was the Henrietta Marie, which was returning from an eventful, 8,000-mile journey (among other things, they had lost their original captain) in July 1700 when it sank off Florida.

DEEP SEA DETECTIVES reveals how a portion of the Marie was discovered, almost by accident, in 1972, and visits the site where thousands of artifacts have been found. Then, we'll join the search for the main body of the wreck, conducted off Key West during the summer of 2003.

SLAVE SHIP UNCOVERED captures every moment of the hunt that, if successful, could shed new light on 17th century shipbuilding and the dark practice of the slave trade.
