Wesley Snipes makes his first appearance as the half-mortal, half-immortal title vampire in "Blade" (1998). Determined to rid the earth of bloodsuckers, Blade hunts his own kind to avenge his mother's death. Stephen Dorff plays the leader of an advanced vampire clan who overthrows their elders who are more inclined to co-exist with mankind. Once that is accomplished, Dorff intends to use Blade's special blood type to summon an evil god with the power to conquer humanity. This opening chapter of the "Blade" trilogy also stars Kris Krisofferson and Donal Logue.

Expert Review:
The half-human, half-vampire, leather-clad warrior of the night known as Blade exploded across screens in 1998 and took the movie-going public by storm. Based on a character from Marvel Comics, Blade was a ground-breaking vampire/superhero genre hybrid. Played by Wesley Snipes in his most famous and iconic role, Blade waged a brutal war against a vicious underground society of vampires. Just be thankful that he’s on our side...
