The controversial, Academy Award-nominated documentary "Jesus Camp" (2007) follows Evangelical children Levi, Rachael and Tory to North Dakota's "Kids on Fire" summer camp where Pastor Becky Fischer pushes an extreme Christian fundamentalist agenda. Established as a place where Christian youth are taught to assume leadership roles and to become "soldiers in God's army," Fischer imparts the message that each child is a potential prophet who must "take back America for Christ." Shocking, startling, this documentary reveals that religious fundamentalism is alive and well in America and not unique to the Middle East.

Expert Review:
A deeply unnerving look at religious fundamentalism exercised over the malleable minds of children. Rachel Grady and Heidi Ewing go inside a Christian summer camp that teaches kids to pray for "righteous judges," to fear homosexuality, and that it is their duty to bring America back to Jesus. Much of my hope for the future comes from the idea that ignorance has lost hold in this generation, but this film suggests that it might be here to stay. By Daniel Schindel of ScreenPicks
