If your best friend is a vampire, you're going to do all right up against the bullies. That's what 12-year-old Kare Hedebrant as Oskar discovers when Lina Leandersson as Eli moves in next door. At first her pale skin and strictly nocturnal appearances seem like mere quirks, but the more Oskar gets to know Eli, the more the truth comes out: she's an immortal bloodsucker. Her destiny calls for constant relocation, but that's difficult this time out because of the bond she forms with Oskar. As a parting gift, Eli handles Oskar's bullies as only a vampire can. An intriguing horror film that turns the genre on its end, this Swedish film from 2008 was remade in English as "Let Me In" in 2010.

Expert Review:
Though many might be more familiar with the American remake Let Me In (2010), the original Swedish film Let the Right One In has been lauded as one of the best vampire movies in a decade. The film explores the relationship between a young boy and a vampire girl set against the snowy backdrop of Stockholm. At times hypnotically beautiful and at other times nightmarishly violent, Let the Right One In is simply unforgettable. By Nathanael Hood of Totally Top 10
