"Blood Simple (Director's Cut)" (1985) marked the triumphant debut of celebrated filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen. This gruesomely witty film noir deals with a Texas bar owner named Marty, who hires a detective to follow his cheating wife and then kill her and her lover. The detective instead decides to shoot Marty, collect his fee and eliminate the only person who could implicate him. The director's cut is re-edited, with restored sound. It is filled with humorous and hideous images and sounds that will leave you marveling at the Coen brothers' genius.

Expert Review:
This taut, fast-paced, funny thriller, which launched the Coen brothers’ brilliant careers, will keep you guessing till the end. When a husband (Dan Hedaya) confirms that his wife (Frances McDormand) is cheating on him, he decides to have the lovers killed. But simple? Not so much, especially not in Texas. M. Emmet Walsh plays the sweaty detective. By Jacqueline Fitzgerald of Film Noir Blonde
