This jack-o-lantern is out for more than tricks or treats - he's out for blood! In this tale of supernatural revenge, a bereaved father conjures the mythological "pumpkinhead" beast and sics him on the reckless teens responsible for his son's death. As the creature comes to life and begins his bloody payback spree, his master realizes there's an extreme price to pay for his services. This cult classic features work by visual effects maven Stan Winston, detailed here in commentary and behind-the-scenes featurettes.

Expert Review:
The late Stan Winston, a special effects genious, rarely tried his hand at directing. A shame, too, as "Pumpkinhead" proves that the man really had a knack for the craft. The titular demon of vengeance is animated with Winston's trademarked skill, not just in the prop work but in sound and lighting (locusts and strobing effects are great shorthand for evil). Lance Henriksen sells the murderous conviction of a grieving father, giving this monster flick an emotional core. By Mark Pellegrini of Adventures in Poor Taste
