The daring INVESTIGATIVE REPORTS series returns to Kentucky for another look at the parole process.

PAROLE BOARD takes viewers where the public almost never goes, deep inside the workings of the criminal justice system, to see how prisoners prepare for--and react to--the all-important parole hearings where their futures are determined.

In this, the second visit to the state of Kentucky, we go inside the KENTUCKY STATE REFORMATORY and follow the cases of several convicts. We'll hear from the prisoners themselves about how they ended up in jail and why they feel they should be released, while families of the victims and law enforcement officers present contrasting opinions. The situations vary widely, from a 21-year-old who accidentally shot his best friend, yet enjoys the support of the victim's mother, to a 36-year-old who murdered his wife on the day before they were scheduled to appear in family court.

After extensive analysis of each situation, KENTUCKY STATE REFORMATORY concludes with the decisions made by the parole board.
