A tormented teen and an 18-year old murder are the subjects of this fascinating look at solving old crimes.

Venturing into the labs where advanced forensic tests are conducted and following the dedicated detectives who refuse to let justice remain unfulfilled, the COLD CASE FILES takes a fascinating, point by point look at how long unsolved cases are finally resolved.

This episode of the groundbreaking series starts with the disappearance of freelance photographer Michele Wallace from Gunnison, Colorado in 1974. While the police had leads, there was not enough evidence to pursue the case, and it was dropped. Five years later, a grisly discovery led to a renewed series of inquiries. But again, investigators were unable to link Wallace to her suspected killer. It was not until 10 years later that the murderer was finally convicted.

Next, we'll examine the disturbing case of Joe Clark, a troubled youth with a penchant for torture. In 1995, he abducted 13-year-old Thad Philips, took him home, and broke his ankles, legs and knees. But after 43 hours, he made the mistake of leaving Thad alone, and the injured boy was able to call the police, who then connected Clark to a murder a year earlier.

Interviews with the officers and crime scene photography make COLD CASE FILES the ultimate, up-close look at contemporary crime solving.
