Join Haunted History for a dark journey "Down East."
With its rocky beaches, vast forests and picturesque Colonial villages, Maine is an idyllic northern frontier. But it is also, apparently, a phantom's paradise.
HAUNTED HISTORY takes an unforgettable journey "Down East" to explore some of the incredible tales from beyond the grave that have become part of local lore. The program travels from Bucksport, where tourists claim that the image of the leg of an alleged witch dances on the grave of a man she had an affair with, to the state capital, where the ghost of a former mayor who killed himself to avoid facing a scandal is said to wander the halls of his former residence, now home to the Bangor Historical Society. At each stop, we'll hear the chilling tales behind the supposed hauntings, and meet people who claim to have encountered the restless spirits.
It's only fitting that the home state of Stephen King is populated by a host of spectral characters worthy of his chilling tales.
