The Great Storm of 1913 was one of the worst to hit the Great Lakes--an area infamous among navigators for the intensity and unpredictability of its weather. In three days, 19 ships were tossed against the shore and 12 were lost, but in the aftermath of the disaster, it was the fate of the small packet steamer Regina that attracted the most speculation. As bodies washed ashore, those of the Regina's crew were intermingled--and often clutching--those of the Charles S. Price, leading people to believe the ships had collided. But when the Price was found, there was no evidence of such an encounter.
In 1986, three dive buddies were testing their new SONAR equipment, hoping to find the remains of a tub that sank in the '70s. Instead, they found the Regina, finally resolving to one of the most colorful chapters in the long history of shipwrecks on the great lakes. With extensive footage and commentary from all involved, DEATH ON LAKE HURON tells their story, and that of the Regina.
