  • JAPAN AND THE SAMURAI WARRIOR: This CD-ROM interactive lesson plan explores the history, culture and legacy of Japan's most fierce and ruthless warrior class. Students will learn how and why Japan was once divided by civil wars, and explore the key role of the Samurai in achieving the peace and the eventual growth of Japan into a mighty empire. Primary sources include: writings from Samurai warriors, ancient Japanese poetry, and images of the Samurai.

  • INDIA: THE MUGHAL EMPIRE: Established in the sixteenth century, the Mughal Empire flourished for over three centuries, conquering vast territories with sophisticated military techniques. This prowess was matched with architectural and cultural sophistication that continues to shape our world today. Following Mughal civilization from its emergence through its decline at the hands of the British, this lesson explores one of the world's most dynamic and powerful empires. Primary sources include: A letter written by the Mughal ruler Babar, a passage by leader Tipu Sultan, images of Mughal artwork, and more.

  • CHINA AND THE GREAT WALL: Spanning nearly four centuries, the complex history of the Great Wall mirrors the history of China itself. From agricultural beginnings to a communist state, from the first emperor of a unified China to the Japanese invasions and World War II, this lesson explores various events that have shaped China throughout its long history. Primary source documents include: Key writings of Confucius, Marco Polo, and others, historical images and drawings, art and architectural images, maps, and more.

This series of 21 video-based interactive lessons puts global history at your fingertips!
