A journalist describes her twenty years as a functioning alcoholic, explaining how she used alcohol to escape the realities of life and personal relationships, until a series of personal crises forced her to confront her problem.
This book is excellent. Knapp's story is one that personally brought me to tears many times, because I could relate so much. Women especially may find this book helpful, when dealing with their own issues with alcoholism, and how it affects so many different parts of our lives, including sexuality and relationships. Nothing is sugarcoated, and Knapp describes beautifully the struggles many of us go through, and how she eventually accepts her problem and works to change. I read this myself when I was struggling with addiction, then ordered copies to be sent to acquaintances I had met in a rehab center, in hopes that it would help them, too. I have since read it several times, and found that its a good reminder of why its so important to fight for sobriety every day, when you are an alcoholic. A must read!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
