Expert Review:
The best film noir is debatable but “Double Indemnity,” by director Billy Wilder, is certainly the prototype for much that followed. Fred MacMurray and Barbara Stanwyck are adulterous lovers who plot to murder Stanwyck’s husband and cash in his insurance policy. Edward G. Robinson shines as MacMurray’s boss. Knock-out performances, full-on style, sexy wit. Wilder and Raymond Chandler wrote the script, based on James M. Cain’s novel. By Jacqueline Fitzgerald of Film Noir Blonde
