Dennis Quaid stars as Alex Gardner, a gifted psychic recruited to help Dr. Paul Novotny (Max von Sydow) and Dr. Jane Devries (Kate Capshaw) in an experiment to help patients disturbed by dreams, in the action-packed "Dreamscape" (1984). When the U.S. President, played by Eddie Albert, decides to rid himself of his apocalyptic dreams, malevolent Bob Blair, a corrupt politician who finances the dream clinic, tries to assassinate him by acting upon Novotny's theory that a person who dies in a dream also dies in real life. Expert Review:
A curiosity film at best, this run at the power of taking over dreams by psychics is still a lot of fun, and showcases an ability to deliver the goods back when special effects couldn't do everything so easily. Dennis Quaid is in the middle of his oddball film run here, and he's a lot of fun. By Marc Eastman of Are You Screening
