Every year, scores of Cubans risk their lives to escape the totalitarian regime of the island nation, fleeing for Florida and the promise of freedom aboard virtually anything that will float. But for many, the journey becomes a struggle for survival.

ESCAPE! tells the dramatic story of a group of 14 Cubans who fled the island in 1997 after stealing a 20-foot boat. Survivors recall how the group fetched up on a group of coral outcroppings called the "Dog Rocks" two days later, where their ordeal truly began. Without water or food, they were stranded on the barren islets for two weeks. The castaways were finally found and rescued by a humanitarian group that regularly patrols the area looking for refugees, but not before four people lost their lives to dehydration, starvation and exposure.

Through the words of those who lived through it, SURVIVOR'S STORY is a compelling chronicle of the dangers awaiting those who brave the passage from Cuba to Florida in search of freedom.
