Tod Browning's directorial masterpiece "Freaks" (1932) demonstrates the loving side of a chastised group of unique performers. The cult classic follows a circus midget Hans, played by Harry Earles, who falls in love with the 'normal' performer Cleopatra, played by Olga Baclanova. Cleopatra accepts Hans' hand in marriage once she learns of the large fortune he will be inheriting. But her loving facade becomes a sinister scheme in which Hans seeks revenge.

Expert Review:
As a monster movie, Tod Browning's "Freaks" pulls a switch-a-roo, casting the beautiful people in the adversarial roles, leaving the deformed to act as our protagonists. The movie is discomforting in its authenticity, but boasts a story with characters strong-enough to keep your eyes glued to the sideshow. By Mark Pellegrini of Adventures in Poor Taste
