Extraordinary footage shows the devastation of the worst flood in Holland's history.

Approximately 40% of the Netherlands lies below sea level, and the waters are held back by a sophisticated network of dikes and breakwaters. But in 1953, the system broke down.

THE WRATH OF GOD examines the elements that combined to create the worst flood disaster in the nation's history. A North Sea storm pushed floodwaters toward the country, and on February 1st, they breeched dikes in the southwest, sweeping away some 47,000 homes and claiming 1,800 lives. The horror and devastation are brought to life through harrowing interviews with survivors and incredible footage and photos.

HOLLAND 1953: ASSAULT OF THE SEA also examines the workings of the Delta Project, an ambitious water-management system developed after the flood, which gives the lowland residents confidence that such a disaster will never strike again.
