Andrew, 21, lives with his father, Dan, and two younger brothers, Tyler, 18, and Mitchell, 16, in London, Ontario. A formerly bright, likable, smart, athletic, young man, Andrew has become a gaunt, moody and menacing OxyContin addict. Andrew's parents divorced when he was 13. When Andrew was growing up, his parents undermined each other with two completely different parenting styles - his mother was the disciplinarian, his father was the "best friend." Andrew learned to blame his mother for his problems and to manipulate his father into getting whatever he wanted.

Andrew's expensive drug habit recently cost his father Dan a job he held for 19 years, when Dan "borrowed" money from his employer to pay for gas and food for his boys. Unable and unwilling to enforce any kind of discipline with Andrew, Dan admits, "I'm weak. I can't stand up to Andrew. He will threaten to commit crimes, trash our motel room, or harass me for money until I give in. I'd rather give him money for a pill than have him out robbing innocent people." Can an intervention not only help Andrew but also get through to his father?
