Lawrence, 34, graduated high school with academic and athletic honors, and became a successful owner of a chain of tanning salons. But his childhood was filled with extreme emotional and physical violence, and Lawrence developed a gambling addiction and a drinking problem, which was made worse by a painful divorce.

Now he rarely eats, drinks a liter of vodka a day, and suffers from seizures. Although he can't even brush his teeth or bathe, he is in denial about his problems. When asked he feels, he says, ''Great!'' At the end of their rope, his loved ones are hoping an intervention will finally convince Lawrence to get the help he needs.
