The CG is very real and detailed. The collapse of Brooklyn bridge, Eifel tower, and the 'naturization' of the New York City. I am very convinced with the way they describe how the earth would look like after people gone. Mother nature would reclaim everything that belong to her.

one of the best out today , the movie depicts what can happen in our own very near future. And shows how the earth will regenerate itself even after us humans are gone, and how our now known animals will evolve and become what they were before we even came along.

a must have for anyone to put in their dvd collection.

I found this program to be very interesting. It was amazing how fast the world could change leaving so little trace of the human race. Given our advanced technology in computers and how we store and save information about ourselves ,it is kind of ironic how prior civilazations left a more lasting trail then the current civilazation would. One of the interesting things about this program was the fact that there was an example (Chernobyl) of some of the things could happen

This DVD is for anyone who wonders what would happen if all the humans just disappeared. It makes you think about how much energy, resources and time we spend to maintain our civilization and how much we've altered the landscape and other life on this planet. It also makes you think about how our control over things is transient and that nature is just biding her time. It has created great discussion around the dinner table with my friends. I'd highly recommend it!

Videos of this nature are very interesting. Just to see what life would be like if no human was around to polute or destroy the Earth is interesting just in itself.

I thought this film was wonderful. Although some of it is obviously pure speculation, Who really knows what will the Earth be like in 10,000 years? I don't think I'll be around. Maybe next time. It was an insightful and well thought out documentary and should be given a rating of 10 stars ! All ages should view this film at least once in their lifetime and perhaps even learn from it. Who knows, maybe it will inspire someone that will change the way we are living and make the future even better.. My thanks for a job very well done !

This DVD takes a guess at what will happen to our home once we kill ourselves off. Just as we assume. mother nature reclaims what is hers.

I thought that this movie was excellent. I thought that it might be a propaganda piece for global warming, but it was nothing like that. It takes a factual look at how we affect things on the planet and what would change without our intervention. Well worth seeing.

It's been called one of the greatest 'thought experiments' of our time and while the book by Alan Weisman ("The World Without Us") spotlighted what mankind has done and is doing to the planet, the video version; "Life After People" hammers home the point with specific and detailed video accounts of what will happen once we're gone from the face of the Earth.
I cannot recall a more intriguing and engaging documentary, nor one which had me suddenly snapping to attention with the realization of numerous points which probably would never have occurred to me otherwise.
An outstanding contribution to the discussion on planetary warming, over-crowding and pollution. In the final analysis, mankind will not last and the Earth will continue as it did for the millions upon millions of years before we ever popped up on the landscape.

Very educational and well done CGI. I read a book on this subject by Alan Weisman called The World Without Us. Life After People hit on all the main points found in that book. I'd highly recommend if you are a disasterphile and would like to see what will happen when (not if) the human race disappears. Unfortunately, most disasters capable of taking us out would very likely take out most of the life found mentioned in this docu. Still wicked fun to watch though!

This is a dramatic overview of what will eventually happen when all people vanish from the face of the earth. While we may think things we build or do today will have a lasting effect, watch what happens to man made things when there are no men (or women) to take care of them; systems fail, nature returns with a vengence. This is not all pure speculation either, they use the example of Cherynoble and revist the area, just over 20 years after the meltdown.
This is a thought provoking, and interesting program. It is one I will watch again after some time has passed, at least, assuming that humankind does not leave the face of the earth without warning.

After watching this on TV ,with all the commercials, I just had to have it for my collection so I could absorb all there is to consider. I watched another stations attempt to cover this subject and it was far short of this wonderful production.

Fascinating look at a world without humans. We can imagine what it's like to have animals rule the planet, but the destruction of man's legacy by plants is a strange and thought-provoking idea. This shows how quickly mother nature will reclaim its home if we're not there to interfere. While the effects do a good job of showing us this phenomenon, it's the reality of Chernobyl that brings it home...hard. Nits: We're told up front that it makes no attempt to explain the total disappearance of people, but this can't be entirely overlooked. Unless everyone on the planet were abducted by aliens, some impact would have to be left behind. Virus? War? Each would leave it's footprint on the landscape. While OK, the CGI is not state-of-the-art. Still life is nice, but animations often appear choppy. But to be fair, this is not Pixar nor was the budget. The special features were not very special. The "making of" didn't begin to show how this was made.
Overall, a very worthwhile disc.

I had eagerly looked forward to this program from the first advertisement I saw for it and wasnÕt disappointed. I found the program both enjoyable and thought provoking and have had several discussions on the subject since seeing it. Indeed IÕve watched it several times and I am excited to order a copy of it to keep.

The program used convincing real world examples to illustrate points and was well grounded, avoiding much of the hype over environmental issues so common in the media today. The digital renditions only added to the program and brought the issues to life in a very believable and poignant manner.

I would very much recommend this program to anybody interested in a down to earth glimpse of long term interactions between humans and our environments.
