A Girl Like Me: The Gwen Araujo Story - The true story of Sylvia Guerrero (Mercedes Ruehl), a mother raising her young son Eddie Araujo (JD Pardo), who as he grew into his teen years, began to dress and act as a girl. Eventually at the age of 17, Eddie took the name Gwen after his idol Gwen Stefani and Gwen's family grew to accept her as she was, but remained fearful of how others might react. Thanks to the tireless efforts of Gwen's mother, Sylvia, the four young men who murdered Gwen are ultimately brought to justice.
Miracle Run - This is the remarkable, triumphant drama, inspired by a true story, of a single mother's (Mary-Louise Parker) devoted love and perseverance against heartbreaking odds in fighting for her autistic twin sons so they could get an education and flourish in a society that expected them to fail.
Prayers for Bobby - The film recounts the true story of a close-knit religious family in Walnut Creek, California, who are shocked to learn that their 19-year-old son, Bobby, is gay. The estrangement from his family, and the guilt he feels over his mother's (Sigourney Weaver) disapproval, take a profound toll on the young man and he ultimately commits suicide. Devastated by the death of her son, his mother ultimately becomes a champion and spokesperson for the rights of gay and lesbian youth.
