"Nightmare Alley" (1947) is a gritty film noir revolving around deception and greed. Tyrone Power stars as an ambitious con artist who takes over a phony mentalist's gig after his death. Building on his fraudulent act, he convinces wealthy people he can communicate with the dead. Joan Blondell and Colleen Grey co-star in this fascinating drama directed by Edmund Goulding. Includes audio commentary and theatrical trailer.

Expert Review:
Lest you think noir is limited to private-eye offices, police stations and penthouse apartments, director Edmund Goulding’s film, both cerebral and seedy, transports us to the world of traveling carnivals. Tyrone Power is Oscar-worthy as Stan Carlisle, a charismatic hustler looking to break into the big time, but brought down by hubris. The memorable cast includes Joan Blondell, Coleen Gray, Helen Walker, Ian Keith and Mike Mazurki. Based on William Lindsay Gresham’s novel. By Jacqueline Fitzgerald of Film Noir Blonde
