In the state with the highest incarceration rate in America, parole standards are stringent and stressed.
Louisiana is not a good place to break the law. The state has the highest rate of incarceration in America, and early release is only granted if the all-important (and overworked) parole board makes a unanimous decision.
PAROLE BOARD: LOUISIANA ventures into the heart of this rarely-seen process to follow the cases of three convicted felons as they negotiate the parole hearing process. Johnny Bryant, 36, serving time for attempted murder, will have to overcome the testimony of his victim if he is to win release. Kelly Webb, 34, is serving five years in jail for his third DWI offense, but contends that a personal tragedy has opened his eyes to the error of his ways. Finally, Huey Delapasse, is facing the board a second time and faces an uphill battle--he was convicted of selling marijuana to an undercover cop three times, and also stole a motorcycle while awaiting trial on the drug charges!
The stories of these three inmates offers an intimate look inside one of the most critical and controversial aspects of the legal system.
