Follow three inmates through the harrowing process of facing the parole board that controls their future.
INVESTIGATIVE REPORTSTM continues with the groundbreaking series that examines one of the most important and overlooked aspects of the justice process. PAROLE BOARD: MONTANA follows the journey of three men through the harrowing review where their future is determined.
Kenneth Miller, 33, is serving 180 years for his role in a robbery-homicide. Though his accomplice admitted being the gunman, both men received identical sentences. A model inmate for 14 years, he will not be eligible for parole until he is 63, and is seeking a commutation of his sentence. Roman McCarthy, 45, seeks an early release from a 5-year sentence for calling his common-law wife, and thus violating a court order of no contact between them. Finally, Curtis Klatt faces a tough hearing after going to jail for disorderly contact and compounding his situation by sucker-punching an officer while handcuffed to the booking bench in the police station!
In the stories of these men, we get a rare and intimate view of the vital process that determines who has been rehabilitated and who needs to spend more time behind bars.
