In this 1955 French drama, based on the novel by Auguste le Breton, a trio of gangsters join forces to commit a seemingly impossible theft. So beloved is this film that the dramatic heist scene has been mimicked by real-life criminals around the world. Starring Jean Servais, Carl Möhner, Robert Manuel, Janine Darcey and Pierre Grasset.

Expert Review:
“Rififi” is the account, both painstaking and poetic, of a group of thieves, their elaborate heist of a Paris jewelry store and their falling out. The tension-filled jewel-theft sequence is famous for being shot without music or dialogue. Referencing John Huston’s “The Asphalt Jungle” from 1950, “Rififi” stands as the pinnacle of achievement for blacklisted American director Jules Dassin, who also acted in the film. François Truffaut called “Rififi” the greatest of all noir films. From Auguste Le Breton’s novel. By Jacqueline Fitzgerald of Film Noir Blonde
