Did you know Christians were at war with drugs? They viewed God as the idol, not drugs, while drug addicts eventually view drugs as the idol. Or is it alcohol? Or tobacco? Do your eyes light up when you see all the options? Does that mean it has become your "idol"?

This special presentation takes you through the ages, from Greece (Hippocrates) to the Modern Era (US Laws and DEA scheduling). Bridges them seamlessly like the serpentine staff, two snakes wrapped around a staff with wings (medical image which means healing and poison) from Caduceus.It explains a whole lot with great animation and storytelling. Plenty of basic information for anyone who is not a historian or "drug fiend" ;)

A very informative yet speculative showing. At the least we can think about how in moderation some things weren't actually that bad. This show isn't gospel, maybe the gospel isn't gospel... just like Capitalism, in moderation of course.

Just keep your mind open, after all it may be all you need, not drugs.

I'm a history student who is building a small library for a future classroom.

This program is quite unique in that it addresses theories and topics not commonplace in the study of history or academia in general.

As another has commented on before, there are multiple inaccuracies within the program. As a history student or teacher, one is likely to experience a certain level of anguish at this. An example of this is "Hitler was not an artist".

Overall, it's a great program that offers a lot to any willing student!

The program provides a good basic introduction to how drugs and culture have been intertwined since prehistoric times. There is a good amount of detail without it being overwhelming for the beginner. Unfortunately there are numerous minor inaccuracies, speculation is occasionally mentioned as if it were fact, and there are some outright silly assertions. Finally, the closer the program gets to the present the more standard drug moralizing creeps into the narrative.

I found this show to be very interesting and well made. Most of the information I have known of for a long time but it was great to see it finally shown on TV. I highly recommend it and hope others open their minds. Im sick of seeing illegal drugs portrayed as evil but when used properly are better than some compound never experienced in nature before from a lab. The god you believe in could just be from a trip your ancestors had...
