Filmmaker Steve James who created "Hoop Dreams" (1993) revisits someone from his past in the documentary "Stevie" (2002). As a college student, James volunteered as a Big Brother to a little boy named Stevie Fielding. James looks up Fielding after ten years to reconnect and finds a deeply disturbed young man who is eventually arrested for child molestation. The film provides a glimpse into Fielding's brutal life and an examination of personal responsibility.

Expert Review:
While better known for his seminal Hoop Dreams or last year's The Interrupters, the great Steve James should be commended for this smaller film, which follows his relationship with his former "Little Brother" Stevie Fielding. As James tries to untangle Stevie's myriad emotional issue, he comes to the troubling possiblity that the young man may be beyond help. An unforgettable look at how we are shaped by our pasts, and try to escape them. By Daniel Schindel of ScreenPicks
