The East Goes West in "The Magnificent Seven Collection," featuring the gunslinging, rough and tumble, all-American remake of Akira Kurosawa's masterpiece "Seven Samurai" (1954). In the original 1960 hit "The Magnificent Seven," seven American gunmen are hired to defend a small Mexican village from the yearly pillaging from the bandit Calvera. Stars Yul Brenner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, and more! This must-have, four-disc set also includes the saga's three sequels: "Return of the Magnificent Seven" (1966), "Guns of the Magnificent Seven" (1969), and "The Magnificent Seven Ride!" (1972).

Expert Review:
A showdown between bandits and mercenaries isn’t the usual moral fable, but “professional gunslinger” westerns depict heroes who take money for their good deeds. Actors Brynner, McQueen, Bronson, Vaughn, and Coburn play cool, distant gunslingers, hired by Mexican villagers, who slowly coalesce as a brotherhood and even, despite their mercenary instincts, care for the villagers. These big stars vied with one another behind the scenes too—like McQueen, who just couldn’t stop fiddling with his hat and upstaging Brynner. By Bucko of Cowboylands
