Stanley Kubrick directed this iconic adaptation of the bestselling Stephen King novel about a supernaturally gifted child and his troubled father's descent into madness. Jack Nicholson is brilliant as a frustrated writer who uproots his family to take a job as a winter caretaker at the isolated Overlook Hotel. His son turns out to have an untapped psychic ability that allows his to see the ghosts that inhabit the old resort and, as a snowstorm traps them inside the hotel, Jack is driven insane by the malevolent spirits.

Expert Review:
Poor Wendy Torrence. She puts up with quite a lot when trapped at the Outlook Hotel when her psychotic husband Jack comes at her and psychic son Danny with an axe. Kubrick’s film might be one of the most frightening dysfunctional family films in movie history. By Scott Youngbauer of ScreenPicks
