In High school, after doing his Elvis Presley impersonation, the head of the school's theater club noticed him and convinced him to audition for the student plays. Lil Abner was his first performance and Woody instantly knew he loved being on stage and continued to perform throughout college. Things started to look better for Woody until he received a letter from his father and began visiting him in prison. All the pent up emotions began to come back and woody was back to his old violent ways. Wanting to start fresh again, Woody moved to New York in search for a job and got his lucky break as an understudy in Neil Simon's Broadway play, Biloxi Blues.
After hearing about the Cheers casting call from a friend, Woody decided to give it a shot and nailed the audition, becoming Woody Boyd on the hit sitcom Cheers. Woody raised the ratings, bonded with the cast and crew and won an Emmy for his performance. Once Cheers ended he took some parts in Wildcats, Doc Hollywood and White Men Can't Jump, but Woody's role in Natural Born Killers really pushed his buttons. Director, Oliver Stone, knew about Woody's father and he wanted him to internalize his dad into this character. Natural Born Killers was a hit with critics praising Woody's performance. Oliver Stone entered Woody's life again for another controversial role in The People Vs. Larry Flynt, which also garnered critical acclaim.
Woody was now a vegan, into yoga and an activist. He tried to legalize hemp and got arrested for scaling the Golden Gate Bridge in an effort to protect 60,000 acres of red woods in California. He left Hollywood for awhile, to focus on his family, but returned to the big screen with No Country for Old Men. No matter what Woody Harrelson does next, the world will be watching.
